Think of it like this: A Discord server is like when all your best friends gather at your home to hang out. Sometimes a few are talking about the latest episode of their favorite show in one room, while others may be discussing a hike they adventured on over the weekend.

CSUCI Admissions has created our own Discord server! Here you can ask questions to our Student Ambassadors, get updates, and chat amongst your future fellow students. Follow the instructions below to join the CSUCI Admissions and Campus Tours Discord server:Create a Discord account: It's free to sign up. 1. Go to discord.com in your web browser (if you already have Discord downloaded or a Discord account, skip these two steps).2. Click on login/register to create an account and make up a username for yourself. This will be the name that shows up to everyone in the server, but don't worry if you end up not liking it later. You can easily change your name whenever you would like to.Joining our server and participating in the appropriate channel:

1. To join our server, simply click the link provided 2. Read our Rules by clicking on the #Rules channel located on the left-hand side of the platform (if you are not immediately directed to the channel when you join).3. Select your role: click on the #request role channel to your left. Inside that channel, click on the reaction (the emoji with a number next to it) to be added to the appropriate channels.

Embedding a widget on your guild/free company site allows you to quickly see who is online without needing to log on to the game. Widgets also help streamline your recruitment process. Potential recruits visiting your site can instantly see how active your group is and even join a recruitment channel on your server without needing an invite.

If you are unable to message the bot, you may need to change your Discord privacy settings to allow members of mutual Discord servers to message you. Once you've linked your account, you can of course turn this setting back off.

Upon Nitro boosting our Discord server, you will be automatically granted the rewards on the account that you have linked, usually within 24 hours. If you haven't received your rewards within 72 hours of boosting, please contact our support team.

Choose the server you want to add it to and click \"Authorize\". Do note that you'll need the \"Manage Server\" permission on a server to add your bot there. This should then present you a nice confirmation message:

That's what roles are for. You can assign roles to users in your server to control which channels they can chat in, how they appear in the members list, and more. This is also how you add moderators to your server.

A common error occurs if you connect your Discord account prior to PlayVS approval or verification. If you are unable to see specific channels or access the PlayVS Discord server, you will need to disconnect and reconnect your Discord account.

With over a quarter of a billion users, Discord is one of the most popular ways that gamers communicate online. Discord lets friends chat via voice, video, or text, and join servers where larger communities gather.

Joining Discord is as easy as using the service on your desktop browser or downloading the free app available for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. From there, you join a server by searching for one, accepting an invite, or creating your own. A server is made up of channels that members use for communication. In fact, Discord's video chat feature makes it a fine alternative to Zoom Meetings.

Servers (and channels within those servers) appear on the left rail; the list of server members appears on the right. At the top (or on the bottom on mobile) you can add and message friends, search servers, and see if you've been mentioned in a conversation. A single, free user can join up to 100 servers, while a paid subscriber can join 200.

In addition, Discord lets you customize server notifications, and give yourself a different nickname for each joined server. You can also invite friends you added from one server into another, even though friends don't need to share a server to communicate.

A single server can have up to 500,000 members (250,000 on a new server). That said, the owner must contact Discord support for more server space to avoid connection errors if more than 25,000 people are simultaneously online. A server maxes out at 50 categories and 500 channels.

Discord offers both private and public servers. Private servers are for hanging out with cool friends, not strangers itching to scream at you. They also work for any kind of communication that requires secrecy. For certain game previews, I watched a presentation and asked the developers questions through a private, password-protected Discord server.

Public servers also have their place. Like a mixture of Reddit and Slack, public Discord servers are for fans of a common subject to all chat with each other and foster their community. You can create custom emotes for your server's in-jokes. Moderators can ban problematic users. In fact, game developers are known for interacting with users on verified Discord servers dedicated to their titles.

Discord Nitro Basic is the cheaper premium tier that costs $3 per month or $30 per year. This subscription grants you a Nitro badge for your profile, custom emotes and stickers you can use beyond your home server, and custom video backgrounds.

For $10 per month or $100 per year, the standard Discord Nitro tier offers everything in Discord Nitro Basic, plus a few more perks. You can upload files up to 500MB, which is 10 times Nitro Basic's 50MB limit (and way greater than the 8MB limit for free users). Using it, you can stream at 4K/60fps, write longer messages, and spruce up your custom server profiles with animated avatars, banners, and extra colors.

Discord is one of the most popular VoIP (voice over internet protocol) programs out there with millions of users across the world. It's a rather easy-to-use program and really lets users do pretty much what they want on their own Discord 'servers' from messaging to voice/video calls and even streaming games to their friends.

In their most basic form, Discord apps are simply a way for users to interact with the Discord API programmatically. They are small programs or automation software that run within Discord servers and are mostly created by an individual, third-party developer not associated with Discord.

One major use case of these apps, one that you'll see in most large-scale servers, is for automating moderation tasks like assigning roles to new users or keeping track of how many messages a user is sending to increase their server level. Other than that, apps will let you play music in voice channels, play basic games in Discord channels, and connect third-party accounts to Discord to name a few uses.

Additionally, you'll also be able to review the permissions an app would require on your server, its privacy policy and basic instructions for use. It is by far the safest and easiest way you can add apps to your Discord server.

You interact with Discord Apps using slash commands. Most apps will have some sort of explainer on their Discord App Directory page, so a quick read will give you a brief overview of what to expect. All you have to do is type a slash ('/') in the chat input bar to see a list of all available commands that can be run on the server.

Note that this will include commands from all apps active on the server, which can be a bit intimidating for new users. A quick way to deal with this is to check the server's member list, where you'll see all active apps with a 'bot' label. You can then look up the specific app to find what the commands do.

Additionally, most app developers also add a slash command that lists all other commands an app supports such as '/about' or '/help'. Visiting the app's official Discord server (if present) is also a good way to figure out how to make the most of it.

Before you get started, keep in mind that you need to have the Manage Server permission or a similar role assigned to you in order to be able to add apps to a server. The Discord App Directory is also accessible only to those with the aforementioned server permission to keep random members from adding unnecessary apps.

In case you couldn't find the app you were looking for on the Discord App Directory, you can use third-party sites like top.gg or Discord Bot List to find and add apps to your server. The actual process itself is almost identical to the aforementioned one.

Once you've found the app you're looking for, click the invite button on the app page, and it'll redirect you to Discord. Log in with your credentials and follow steps four and five to select the destination server and confirm permissions for the app.

However, be cautious when adding an app to your server, especially if you're getting one off the internet. It's very easy to get confused and install a malicious or fake app that can infect your Discord with viruses or malware sometimes causing remote server takeovers or even more damage to your system.

Using apps can bring a lot of functionality and fun to your Discord servers. They're easy to install and use and there are thousands of them all available right inside Discord itself for just about everything you would want to do on a server. 59ce067264
